Our Mission Statement

 'Achieve in God's Love'

At St Edward’s Catholic Primary School, our mission to “Achieve in God’s Love” guides everything we do. We believe that every child can flourish when they feel valued, supported, and inspired, and we work together as a community to nurture each pupil’s gifts so they can grow in faith, character, and learning.

Our School Values

St Edward’s Catholic Primary School is guided by core values rooted in the Gospel which shape the way the school learns, celebrates, and grows together.

Our Patron Saint - St Edward

St. Edward the Confessor was a kind and very religious English king (1000s) known for his gentle rule, deep faith, and love for peace, earning the name "Confessor" because he confessed his faith through his good deeds, not battles, even giving his ring to a beggar, and he built Westminster Abbey, teaching that true strength comes from kindness and serving God and others.

Who was he?

  • He was an Anglo-Saxon King of England, ruling from 1042 to 1066.
  • He spent time living in Normandy (France) as a child, which made him very religious.

What made him special?

  • Gentle King: Unlike warrior kings, he preferred peace and fairness, which was unusual for his time.
  • "Confessor": He was called this because he showed his deep faith by living a holy life, resisting temptations, and helping the poor, rather than fighting.
  • Generous: He gave away much of his wealth, even a precious ring to a poor man, showing his faith wasn't about riches.
  • Built Westminster Abbey: He promised to go on a pilgrimage but couldn't leave his kingdom, so he built a great church (Westminster Abbey) instead, where he was later buried.

What lessons does he teach?

  • True strength comes from faith and kindness, not fighting.
  • Being honest, kind, and praying are ways to show you love God.
  • Even a king can be simple and serve people.
